Vic Cabrera is a prolific writer, a director member of the Directors Guild of America and co-founder of the Alameda Writers Group. Vic was on staff at NBC and KNBC for 20 years as a Director, Associate Director and Stage Manager in news and on-air.

In 2004, he jumped at the opportunity to establish his own production company.  “After raising two daughters, I realized this was my time. Thank God my wife agreed!”

Cabrera Productions LLC is dedicated to developing and producing Vic’s library of plays, scripts and stories. “As technology changed, financing became more available and the appetite for original material grew, I saw my chance to have my voice heard. I’ve stopped trying to break into ‘the system’ and am enjoying letting ‘the system’ find me.”

The first project for Cabrera Productions was My Cuban Story, a one-man show with music by Esteban Adame and dance.  The story documents the coming to power of Fidel Castro and its effect on the Cabrera family; the exodus to New York and the beginning of assimilation in the United States. After a very successful two month “development-run” in Hollywood, Vic is preparing to take the production on the road in 2006.

Currently, THE BIG DEAL, the company’s first independent feature, is scheduled for screenings in February, 2006.  A multi-cultural romantic comedy, THE BIG DEAL promises to be the first of many hits for the family business.

The movie pays homage to the good-old-days of comedies that made you, “slap your lap ‘till it's red!”  Cabrera believes in the importance of laughter and says, “After every rehearsal my jaw hurt from laughing.”  With a cast of diverse and talented actors, THE BIG DEAL delivers big laughs wrapped with surprises and tied up with human emotions.

In addition to the above projects, Vic currently has three scripts in development which he plans to produce and direct.

Cabrera exclaims, “My stories are finally getting told!”
